BTS Producer EL CAPITXN Tells His Own Story on “Don’t Say Love”
With BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT joining “Don’t Say Love” and WHO KILLED EL? due November 6, the artist behind a wide-ranging K-pop catalogue turns to a story of his own.

EL CAPITXN has released “Don’t Say Love,” featuring BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT, ahead of his debut full-length album, WHO KILLED EL?. Released October 23, the single centers on wanting to express love when the voice needed to communicate it feels out of reach.

The label’s release notes describe words distorted by an unfamiliar presence and a struggle to distinguish that presence from the self. In that account, the desire to communicate survives even as expression becomes difficult. It is a dramatic framework for the experience EL CAPITXN discusses in the announcement.
“Even after losing my singing voice, I never stopped wanting to express love and sing in my own voice,” he says.
His role extends across the recording. EL CAPITXN is the single’s sole credited lyricist, sharing composition with Vendors (Zenur), Lukas Costas, Rence and Justin Kwon, and arrangement and production with Zenur. He also handles programming, bass and keyboard, shares drums with Zenur, and contributes background vocals alongside BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT. Guitar credits go to Zenur and Cole Hutzler.
Those roles give concrete shape to the single’s personal premise: his contribution runs from the words to the recording’s construction. The release is listed as Rock/Metal, under VENDORS PRODUCTION/EMPIRE, with distribution by EMPIRE Distribution Inc.

A career written in different roles
Before EL CAPITXN became a familiar name in album credits, Jang Yi-jeong debuted as HISTORY’s main vocalist in 2013. His recording history with IU includes a collaboration from those years: he featured as a vocalist on her 2013 single “Friday,” long before his writing and arranging work on “eight.”

On IU’s “eight” and PSY’s “That That,” both featuring SUGA, EL CAPITXN shares composition and arrangement credits. On Agust D’s “Snooze,” featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto and WOOSUNG, his credits include production and songwriting. His role changes with the record.

The wider VENDORS network

Beyond the headline collaborations
On tripleS’s “Girls Never Die,” his work extends from composition and arrangement into vocal directing, digital editing and mixing. PLAVE’s “Dash” places his composition and arrangement credits alongside Vendors (ZENUR). These projects broaden the picture beyond one artist relationship or company roster.
VENDORS is part of that wider network. The collective founded by EL CAPITXN emerged in 2018; the later Vendors Production company was announced in 2024. EXO’s “Just as usual” credits contributors San, Fascinador and Zenur in composition, with Fascinador and Zenur also credited in arrangement.
A title that leaves a question open
“Don’t Say Love” follows March 2026’s “Breaking Through,” featuring TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Taehyun and Jeremy Zucker. WHO KILLED EL? will explore the loss of EL CAPITXN’s singing voice and the life that followed, according to the announcement, spanning rock, orchestral music, gospel, classical music and pop.
The October 23 announcement scheduled a Carnivald-directed “Don’t Say Love” music video for October 26 at 8 a.m. Pacific Time, describing black-and-white imagery and a gothic world suspended between the sacred and the sinister. The Performance MV embedded above credits Mamesjao; that credit differs from the director named in the earlier announcement.
The album’s title leaves its question open. His explanation is more direct.
“It holds both my longing for what I’ve lost and my desire to keep taking the stage with my own music,” he says in the announcement.
