1. Scope and current service status

This policy explains how KPOP MAGAZINE handles information on thekpopmagazine.com and in its YouTube API charts. KPOP MAGAZINE uses YouTube API Services. The chart service collects timestamped public video statistics and publishes independent Daily and Weekly rankings when complete measured history is available.

Public video and channel information can relate to creators even when it is publicly available. The sections below describe that API data separately from information about website visitors and people who contact us. See the Google Privacy Policy, YouTube Terms of Service and our Terms of Use.

2. YouTube API data we access and store

The chart service sends editorially selected official music-video IDs to the YouTube Data API v3 videos.list endpoint using the operator's API key. It requests public snippet, statistics, content details and status information. The API response can include public video metadata, thumbnail references, aggregate statistics and availability information. It does not request access to a visitor's Google or YouTube account.

The chart backend stores video IDs, channel IDs, public view counts, retrieval timestamps and collection status. Editorial candidate records link verified video, artist and release identities to their evidence. We also retain request/run identifiers, the requested video IDs, missing-video indicators and editorial selection confirmation to check the provenance and completeness of each retrieval. Comparison reports contain the selected start and end records, elapsed time, view-count differences, sample ordering and any exclusions or review flags.

We do not collect viewers' names or identities through these aggregate counts. The chart service does not use OAuth, request Google sign-in, or access private channel analytics, passwords, access tokens, watch histories, subscriptions or private videos. It does not retrieve individual comments or identities of people who liked a video.

3. How we process and use YouTube data

The operator selects official videos, retrieves their public metadata and view counts, and stores timestamped observations in the hosted chart database for comparison. The service subtracts the earlier view count from the later count and orders eligible videos by that observed increase. It identifies the actual measurement interval; a short observed interval is not presented as a completed weekly chart. Missing or inconsistent records are excluded or flagged for review.

This processing supports public charts, editorial evaluation and data-quality checks. Published editions show independently calculated view increases and rankings, with source-video and artist links. Delayed collection is labelled as a recovery edition with its actual measured interval. Review demonstrations and sample reports remain separate from published editions. These calculations are made by KPOP MAGAZINE, not supplied or endorsed by YouTube.

We do not use API data to identify or profile individual viewers, combine it with website analytics to identify viewers, or target advertising to them. The chart does not download or store video or audio files.

4. Internal access and external sharing

Internal use: the website operator uses restricted backend records and review reports for the editorial selection, data-quality checks and comparisons described above. Raw observations and credentials are not published in website source or public assets.

YouTube/Google: API requests transmit the selected video IDs and API authentication information to Google. We provide relevant sample reports and screen recordings to the YouTube API Services review team to demonstrate the data retrieval and processing. API keys are not included in the public website or review-report exports.

Website visitors: readers see published chart positions, independently calculated growth figures, measurement periods and linked editorial artist/release identities. Internal request logs, credentials and private enquiry messages are not intended for public display.

Service providers: our website hosting and delivery providers process technical requests to serve pages. Google Analytics processes website-usage information; Google Fonts receives requests needed to deliver fonts; embedded platforms process requests for their content; and our Google email service processes correspondence. These services receive information relevant to their respective functions. Our chart hosting and storage providers also process the backend records needed to operate the service.

We do not sell personal information or provide API records to advertisers or data brokers. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address security or legal claims.

5. Website analytics and technical information

We use Google Analytics to understand website use. It may collect pages viewed, interaction events, approximate location, referral source, visit timing, browser and device information, and cookie or similar identifiers. We use reports to improve articles, navigation and site performance. This website measurement is separate from the public video-count analysis described above.

When pages or third-party resources load, the relevant hosting or service provider receives technical request information such as IP address, browser information and requested URL. We use website delivery services to make the site available and support its operation and security.

6. Cookies, embedded content and external services

Google Analytics may place or read cookies or similar technologies on your device. YouTube embeds and other third-party content may also receive device, network and playback information when loaded or used, and may use cookies under their own policies. YouTube players may serve advertisements controlled by YouTube. Following an external link takes you to a service governed by its own policies.

You can limit cookies through your browser settings and use the Google Analytics opt-out tool. Blocking cookies may affect embedded features or measurement but should not prevent you from reading articles. You can choose not to play embedded media.

7. Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and attachments. The operator uses that information to respond to enquiries, investigate corrections, handle privacy requests or discuss the matter you raised. Correspondence is processed through our Google email service and retained only as long as needed for the enquiry, necessary follow-up or applicable legal obligations. Enquiry messages are not published as chart data.

8. API data retention and deletion

Raw YouTube view-count observations and collection run records are retained for up to 30 days. Published Daily and Weekly chart editions, including rankings and independently calculated view increases, are retained for up to 36 calendar months from publication under the additional derived-metrics terms accepted during our API review. Copies submitted to Google for review are handled by Google under its own practices.

Other API metadata will be refreshed or deleted within 30 days, and any shorter applicable deletion requirement takes precedence. Unavailable source data and affected displays will be removed as required. Expired editions are excluded from the public archive and removed during collector maintenance. The longer archive does not restore editions already deleted under our previous 30-day configuration. Historical chart availability is subject to those limits.

9. Your choices and privacy requests

For questions or requests to access, correct or delete information held by KPOP MAGAZINE, email contact@thekpopmagazine.com. Identify the relevant page, video/channel URL or correspondence and describe your request. We may ask for information needed to verify the request. We review requests promptly and handle applicable YouTube API data deletion requests within seven calendar days. If information must be retained, we will explain the reason.

A request to us does not delete the original video or information held by YouTube. Our chart service does not use Google account authorization, so there is no chart OAuth permission to revoke. You can review permissions granted to other applications in your Google account security settings.

10. Policy updates

We will update this policy when our data practices or services change, including before connecting a production chart backend or adding account-authorized data access. The date above identifies the latest revision.
